LANlord is a high-speed, high-throughput, back-end local-area networkdesigned to support mainframe processors as well as supermicros andpowerful workstations that need to send and receive large amounts ofdata. LANlord Inter Processor Node (IPN) is a powerful multiprocessorcomponent, utilizing 68-class microprocessors and 2900 series bitslice processors, backed by up to 10 MB of buffering capacity.LANlord IPN is based on the VMEbus, which supports a flexible modulararchitecture. This architecture enables host device interface at the I/Ochannel level or at the internal bus level through a LANlord businterface card set.The LANlord bus speed is 25 Megabits per second over 75-ohm, RG 11 coaxcable. It implements two buses with simultaneous transmit-and-receivecapability. Redundancy is available as an option. LANlord IPN isconnected to the bus cable through a 100-foot ribbon cable. A smallmedia access unit attaches to the cable through a piercing tap. The busrun can be up to 3500 feet per segment.
